Pre-painting Preparation
Before we start painting, all surfaces to be painted are thoroughly washed with a mild detergent or solvent to remove dirt, grease, mildew, soap or film that may have accumulated over the years. This step helps to ensure proper adhesion of the fresh paint. Water marks, smoke stains, pen marks, and other unsightly blemishes that could “bleed through” the new paint are properly primed with the appropriate primer or sealer.
All areas are thoroughly checked for “Concrete Cancer”. Any sign of concrete cancer is first repaired. All rust effected areas are treated with “Rust converter”. Further sanding and smoothing may be necessary for maintenance or cosmetic considerations. An appropriate primer is applied to all bare wood to assure proper adhesion of the new paint and to prevent future peeling.
If any cracks and holes are found they are repaired with the appropriate polyfiller, sanded and primed. Open joints and gaps between different surfaces to be caulked with acrylic gap fillers such as “Polygap” Sealant for a neater and more finished appearance. Glossy surfaces to be dulled by sanding or undercoating to ensure proper paint adhesion.
Pressure Washing
Exterior objects around your home are prewashed to ensure all areas to be painted are thoroughly clean. We believe this is necessary to ensure a thoroughly professional result and do not begin to paint until the entire area is thoroughly clean.
